Kathleen Edwards Teams up With Bon Iver to Release New Album

This is the woman that played the David Letterman Show and was so at ease it felt like you were in her livingroom.

Kathleen Edwards has been working on a new album over the last two years with co-producer music entity Bon Iver, a profound and popular singer-songwriter in his own right.

Keeping things hip, they released a 7" and the full album is due out this month.

What better time to see Edwards than right here, right now, on the 26th?

Originally from Ottawa, Canada, Edwards felt international waves of success with her first album, Failer (ironic, right?), and has toured the globe several times, sharing the stage with icons like Willie Nelson, among others.

Her live shows have remained strong, and she has a catalog to draw from as she also released 2 more albums: Back To Me in 2005 and Asking For Flowers in 2008. Bon Iver

We're ready to see what the new album sounds like. Edwards can come off as very traditional-- her look is like if the old pictures in a family album from simpler, harder, better times came to life-- yet Bon Iver may add a more artistic twist. For example, Bon IVer's bio reads like beat poetry:

"First it was For Emma, Forever Ago. The soul in a refraction of icicles. A moment hanging like breath on air. And yet life – even still life – is not still. The story is not a story if it does not unravel. Your eyes you may cast backward, but the heart is locked in the chest and must beat forever forward. Bon Iver, Bon Iver is the frozen beast pressing upward from a loosening earth, one ear cocked to the echo of the ghost choir still singing, the other craving the martial call of drums tumbling, of thrum and wheeze. The desolation smoke has dissipated, cut with strips of brass. Celebration will not be denied, the cabinet cannot contain the rattle, there is meat on the bones." - from www.boniver.org

Will the collaboration have an effect on the music?

See it live at Lincoln Hall January 26th.
