8:30 PMThe Real Jane Martin
The first time we heard Real Jane Martin we knew we were in for something special. Their hits will stay with you. TRJM is an acoustic rock band from Chicago, IL. Musician-songwriters Mark Burns and Allen Rein formed TRJM in 2006, and bassist Joseph Nemec joined in 2010. TRJM has released two studio albums: Simple Math in 2009 and North of Nowhere in 2011. 9:20 PMJunction 325
This band keeps getting better and better. Junction 325 performs mostly unplugged, original music with a select few, tasty cover pieces within the pop, rock, folk and Americana styles. This 5-piece band came about in February of 2011 in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, and consists of seasoned and disciplined musicians who bring their own influences of various music genres and their own performance experiences to the table. They... are looking forward to start recording their first album in winter 2011-2012. The band consists of Cathy Narvaez (vocals and percussion), Jack D. (guitar and vocals), Sarah Wong (violin, guitar and vocals), James Neff (percussion and vocals) and Mike “Vez” Narvaez (bass and guitar). The main focal points of this band are the intricate, interwoven layers of strong 3 to 4-part vocal harmonies, the elaborate, complex and whimsical interplay between the strings of the guitars and/or the violin, the rich, bottom, warmth and stability of the 5-string acoustic bass, with all of the above being driven by melodic percussive beats. Although the original songs are mostly fueled by the creative ideas of Jack and Sarah, the band prides itself on including the creative inputs, musical expressiveness and talents of all of its members to complete and reach the final song “product”. The Junction 325 songs are purposeful and meaningful and the bands’ unique music style combined with their performance stirs the listeners’ thoughts and emotions. 10:05 PMKatie Bithos and Zero to ZeroAlthough CAU focuses on original music, we have to give props to anyone that can cover Adele as well as pull off energetic Sumblime tunes with aplomb. Keep an eye out on this rising star! 11:00 PMNorthland Ghost
The band's latest album can be heard at Bandcamp- so take a listen and check out the details:"The Trees Are Burning" is our first EP of songs that we have been developing over the last few months. The basis of the songs were written by me over the last year or so, and represent a good mix of folk, rock and americana. You will find themes of loss, ache, love and hope against the din of the normal lives of broken characters. The vocals are pained but steady, the instrumentation clear but rough, the rhythm driving yet delicate. The cover art comes from a public domain photograph of a Texas farm during the Dust Bowl. I think it reflects the mood of the songs well...that mood being both the overwhelming power of forces to destroy the notion of normal life and also having strength to stand in the face of those forces despite almost certain defeat. We would love you to take a good listen to the tunes and lyrics, and if you like it, tell a friend and come out to a show! Run don't walk to Goose Island to see the First CAU Showcase at Goose in 2012 with four awesome bands !!! |
